Psychotherapist | Mental Health Counselor

About Me and My Approach

MaryLu Halperin | MA, MPH, RN, LCPC, NCC

My approach to psychotherapy and counseling is holistic, integrative and collaborative. I treat the whole person, working closely with adults and adolescents (teens age 13 and older) in a nonjudgmental and compassionate way.

Enhanced Mind-Body Connection

With my experience in psychotherapy and professional nursing, I am especially attuned to the mind-body connection. In my practice, I combine my expertise in psychotherapy, physical health and wellness with your expertise in you. Adding a dash of cutting-edge neuroscience research and a large dose of empathy, I can better understand the roots of your emotional distress. I will help you to unite and integrate your feelings with your thoughts, bodily sensations and actions. In this way, you will be able to live and love authentically, intentionally and with passion.

For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction. – Cynthia Occelli

Treatment Tailored to Your Unique Needs
In a safe and confidential therapeutic space, I invite you to talk with me about your concerns. As we work together, I will tailor treatment to your unique needs. We will:

•    Understand your reasons for seeking therapy, expectations and goals
•    Clarify your thoughts and feelings
•    Reflect upon your relationship and behavior patterns
•    Explore your life experiences
•    Deepen your self-understanding
•    Alter unsuccessful strategies
•    Foster vitality and creativity
•    Enhance your personal strengths and coping skills

What You Can Achieve
You can develop deeper self-understanding and clarity about your life. You will experience changes in the way you see yourself and the world around you. Ineffective relationship strategies and nonproductive ways of thinking and behaving will be altered. You will feel more content and better able to manage your life.
